Class Attire
Ballet
Attire
Leotard of choice and tan or pink tights. Ballet skirts are also acceptable.
Footwear
Pink canvas ballet slippers for girls, black canvas ballet slippers for boys.
Hair
Neat bun or pony.
Tap
Attire
Leotard of choice and tan or pink tights. Booty shorts or leggings are also acceptable.
Footwear
Any standard lace-up tap shoe is acceptable for class. Dancers will be required to purchase uniform tap shoes for recital.
Hair
Neat bun or pony.
Jazz
Attire
Leotard of choice and tan or pink tights. Booty shorts or leggings are also acceptable.
Footwear
Jazz shoes or foot undies.
Hair
Neat bun or pony.
Contemporary/Modern/Improvisation
Attire
Leotard of choice and tan or pink footless tights. Booty shorts or leggings are also acceptable.
Footwear
Bare feet or foot undies.
Hair
Neat bun or pony.
Hip-Hop
Attire
Any type of athletic apparel including leggings, sweatpants, joggers, booty shorts are acceptable. Fitted t-shirts, tank tops and/or leotards are acceptable.
Footwear
For class, any clean sneaker that has NOT BEEN WORN OUTDOORS is acceptable. Dancers will be required to purchase uniform shoes for recital.
Adult Ballet Barre
Attire
Adult dancers may wear any athletic wear that they are comfortable in.
Footwear
Bare feet or socks are acceptable for class. Ballet slippers are NOT required.
Adult Hip-Hop
Attire
Adult dancers may wear any athletic wear that they are comfortable in.
Footwear
Clean sneakers are recommended, but not required. Bare feet are acceptable.
GLDF/GLDCo Apparel
Great Lakes Dance Factory & Great Lakes Dance Company apparel (t-shirts/zip-up hoodie may be purchased through the studio in the Fall of each season.
Kindness Policy
Dancers and their parents are required to be kind/respectful to all staff, students, event faculty, parents and others that they come into contact with inside the studio or at studio events. This is not a request, but a necessity here at GLDF.
We pride ourselves on creating a supportive, safe environment for dancers to learn, grow and experiment in. Mutual respect and kindness are absolutely necessary to cultivate this creative space. We do not tolerate gossip, bullying or negativity of any kind.
Dancers/families who struggle to maintain an acceptable attitude, work ethic or display the ability to be kind/respectful/supportive to others may be dismissed from Great Lakes Dance Factory/Great Lakes Dance Company at any time. No refunds will be issued for dancers dismissed/removed from the studio under any circumstances.
Illness
Please do not bring your dancer to class if they have had one of the following symptoms that day:

Vomiting

Diarrhea

Fever
We do not want to spread illness among the dancers. Please take your dancer to the doctor promptly during competition season to avoid a mass outbreak of strep, mono, the flu, etc.
Arriving/Pickup on Time
Dancers should arrive at least 10-15 minutes early, when applicable, to allow time to get their appropriate shoes on, stretch, etc. Students should be picked up promptly at the end of class. Please do not leave unattended dancers at the studio.
If your dancer is going to be tardy or absent from class, please email the studio directly.

Approved Shoes for Studio Rooms
ONLY approved dance shoes that have never been worn outdoors are allowed on the studio dance floors.
Lobby Etiquette

Please do not bring food into the studio. Dancers may bring personal water bottles.

Outdoor shoes should be stored on appropriate trays, dance bags stored under chairs/benches or on provided shelves, and coats can be hung on the hooks.
